As we embark upon a new year, we think it appropriate to reflect on the reason our practice has grown by leaps and bounds – you, our clients and friends. Since the firm’s inception in 2009, our client base has grown exponentially. Our debt of gratitude is enormous. We deeply appreciate the confidence you’ve demonstrated in us.  Here are some of the highlights from 2011.

Our New Associate.  The firm hired its first associate, Virginia Simms, in September 2011. Virginia is a 2011 graduate of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of The International Lawyer, the ABA’s international law quarterly and SMU’s international journal. We’ve spotlighted Virginia here

Articles, Speeches, and PowerPoints, Oh My!  From a marketing perspective, Amy’s priorities for 2011 were speaking and writing. She defied the constraints of time and embraced numerous opportunities, including an article on insurance coverage for social media published in Coverage, the American Bar Association’s journal on insurance coverage litigation. Amy also published an insurance overview for business litigators in the Dallas Bar Association’s Headnotes—“Navigating Insurance Issues: What You Need to Know.” Amy was also asked to speak on insurance topics at continuing legal education (CLE) seminars throughout the year, including conferences presented by the State Bar of Texas, the University of Texas School of Law, the Dallas Bar Association, the Collin County Bar Association and the North Texas Association of Insurance Counsel. Amy kicked off 2012 by moderating a panel discussion on insurance issues in complex construction mediations for the Insurance in the Construction Industry seminar, presented this month by The Seminar Group. Her next article is scheduled for the Texas Insurance Law Journal this spring.

Amy’s Book Deal.  The contract for the not-yet-titled guide to litigating insurance coverage disputes in Texas was negotiated and signed last year. Amy is particularly excited to be writing her first book. Drafting is well underway, with publication scheduled for November 2012. Stay tuned!

Kudos.  Amy was included by Thomson Reuters on the Texas Super Lawyers® list for the third consecutive year, and was among the top 50 women attorneys recognized in 2011. She was also honored this year as a recipient of the Dallas Business Journal’s 2011 Women in Business Award.

2012: The Year Ahead.  We look forward to 2012 with great anticipation. The firm is working with a real estate broker to select its permanent home, with relocation scheduled for the last quarter of 2012. Amy is co-chairing the Attorneys Serving the Community 26th annual luncheon, benefitting the Trinity River Mission, and looks forward to the completion and publication of her book. Ashley returns from maternity leave to celebrate significant victories for the firm's clients resulting directly from her efforts. Virginia is slated for a year of firsts as a new attorney: her first deposition, her first pro bono case, and possibly her first trial.  She plans to get published again and will complete her provisional year with the Junior League of Dallas.
